Default nl10: 8/8/i suddenly gets no respect

UTG is 27/13/3.4 over 220
button is 16/5/i over 40
BB is 77/15/1 over 125

I'm 8/8/i over 125 (I was dorking around shortstacked for a while, and only that 77/15 has been calling my raises)

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

BB ($21.50)
UTG ($9.40)
Hero ($25.55)
Button ($10.45)
SB ($17.45)

Preflop: Hero is MP with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG raises to $0.3, Hero raises to $1, Button calls $1, 1 fold, BB calls $0.90, UTG calls $0.70.

Flop: ($4.05) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero cbets, or no?

say I check, and someone like the button bets $3? easy fold?

You shouldn't be proud of being 8/8 and your opponents aren't paying attention anyways at this level. Pot flop.

A $3 c-bet will let you know if anyone likes their hand enough to stick around while still giving you enough chips to get away if someone pushes back (a big check-raise, for example).

If you're called, your plan on the turn really depends on who called...

not proud of stats, that's just what they were, offered fwiw.

I've been reading that cbetting into a several players isn't a good idea, that's the main reason I thought no.

Don't check, bet $3-$4 on the flop. If you get a raise or flat call you can either fold or stick around and re-evaluate turn.

It's not a good idea if you miss the flop completely (and a check here tells everyone that you missed the flop). Here you could still have the best hand, so you should bet it.

I have also been reading about not c-betting into more than 1-2 players so understand where you are coming from.

But I agree with stickdude.....

You have a strong hand preflop. 2 players before you have checked showing nothing.

A king or an Ace would be worse than a queen here.

In HOH he talks about defining you hand sooner rather than later. From my newbie point of view this is one of those times. Put a decent c-bet out there and if re raised or called you can prob say you are up against queen.

If not you have the pot for yourself.

If you were first to act after the flop in this situation MAYBE you could just check given there are a few players still to act and someone could have queen. Even then possibly cbet?? I don't know for sure but some of the guys here could give better advice.

Given 2 checks and only a queen above you I think you have to Cbet....
