New video card won\'t detect
weee hi. I just got a new video card, a Geforce 8600 GT. I've installed it, but the monitor/computer doesn't detect that it's there. When the monitor is plugged in, it stays on stand by, and when I switch to my onboard video, windows doesn't appear to know that a video card is sitting in the motherboard.
It's obviously sitting in a PCI-E slot. It comes with a DVI adapter, which I put on to connect my VGA cable to my VGA port on the monitor. I don't need to a DVI adapter on the monitor too right? If it matters, the fan on the video card is running, so at least I know it has power. Any help would be appreciated, cheers |

Re: New video card won\'t detect
All the cards I looked at have two video out D-Subs, are you sure you're not plugged into the secondary output? Does your powersupply put out enough power to power this kind of card? Check the manual for requirements.

Re: New video card won\'t detect
I ended up resolving the issue. My bios was set to only take video from the onboard card. I went into the bios, switched it to take video from the PCI-E slot, and it picked up the card.
Just thought I'd clear that up for the people who were kind enough to respond, and in case anyone else reading has a similar problem :P |
