AA early in match($11NLTRN)
2nd hand in:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (2 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) BB (t1480) Hero (t1520) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero raises to t100, BB calls t80. Flop: (t200) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets t180, BB calls t180. Turn: (t560) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) villain checks, I bet 240, he raises to 480, I push. Pretty standard. My question is would anyone go about getting the money in the pot differently? Would anyone exercise pot control at any point? I know that seems weak but what is villain calling/raising with that I'm beating (besides Q and maybe a naked pp)? Obviously, I think most people would play it the same way, I was just curious if anyone has any different ideas |

Re: AA early in match($11NLTRN)
Id strongly consider checking the turn, villain will lead out with Qx for sure on a non J or T river and you can probably get him to do something stupid if he was floating a weak hand. If you do bet the turn your size is very wrong, I would be betting around 350 here. As played because your size is so small Id call and play a river a J or T are the only real scare cards, hopefully if he was doing this with a Qx or [censored] he will stack if you just call here. Very hard to imagine folding any river but a J or T but you do have a tough decision if a 2 rolls off and he pushes.

Re: AA early in match($11NLTRN)
No, my standard raise at 10/20 is 3x, it was the 2nd hand in and the 1st hand I had raised the same w/ AJs so I figured he might assume that that I was just super aggressive. Sometimes when the deck really hits me at the start of the match I'll play that role.

Re: AA early in match($11NLTRN)
You don't think that the average player at the $11s will lower their standards for calling 5x bb if he's seen me do it a couple times? Or even without having done it before, so long as it doesn't look out of the ordinary?

[/ QUOTE ] I think they will but they wont play weak tight enough to make me want to sacrifice my implied odds postflop, generally this move works better against good players who you play significantly better than postflop. |

Let me make sure I understand correctly: you don't think that I'll get paid off as much postflop by raising too much preflop?

Re: AA early in match($11NLTRN)
I guess I don't really understand how I'm sacrificing implied odds. Do you mean that they'll call less pre, decreasing the chances for a profitable situation?
