6.50 KK early...can I fold???please???
Full Tilt Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t40 (8 handed)
SB (t1580) BB (t1715) UTG (t1380) UTG+1 (t1550) MP1 (t3085) Hero (t1440) CO (t1420) Button (t1330) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls t40, UTG+1 calls t40, MP1 calls t40, Hero raises to t380, 4 folds, UTG raises to t720, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, Hero??!? UTG limped and then min-reraised my almost 10BB raise. I don't think there is anything you can possibly do pre-flop that shows more obvious monster hand strength than this. Honestly, does anyone get away from KK here? I can't see a player ever making this move with anything less than KK. Maaayyyybe QQ or AK. |

I certainly wouldn't get away. And since people can make this move with JJ+ and AQs+ (and what not) I would push.

Re: 6.50 KK early...can I fold???please???
I get that it's only a 6.50. I really don't think people are that loose and wild and crazy (maybe not as much as they once were). There are tons of weak tight players as well who would only make this move with AA.
What range do you put UTG on?? |

Re: 6.50 KK early...can I fold???please???
never fold.
now, you need a bit of work on your preflop raising. start by 3x'ing the initial raise, so say 120 is your start point. now you also have two limpers, so you need to add more to your raise. you are pot building and you can't give 3 or 4 oppoents good odds to hit a set on you. so i might add 40 per limper. that would take you to 200. and since it is a 6.5 and people will call you really loose add another 40. so make it 240 or so. it would be an awful thing to overraise your KK and have everyone fold. |

[/ QUOTE ] I understand that this seems to be the standard among Sng players for pre flop raising. But to play the devil's advocate: So I take your advice: one player limps in EP, folds to me on the button, I raise to t200 with KK. Let's say a limper calls with 55, flops a set, and stacks me. The limper called t160 more to win the t1300 i had left, meaning he got 8.125-1 odds on his call, which is just about profitable for him. Even if I raise to 240 (giving 6.3-1), isn't this undesirable for me? Don't I need to cut down his odds even more due to the fact that every chip gained gives me less and less additional equity? |
