Calling all in with top pair on flop with 3 spades on board...
First Post so bare with me.
Unsure if I played this hand well, and if I made a bad call. Live tournament. One Hour in. 2 rebuys allowed for first hour and a half. 6 players at my table. Blinds going up every 15 minutes. Blinds 200/400 Average Stack on table around 7k Villain had previously called 500 bet with air and had seen alot of flops, raising 50% of the time. Hero on BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villian UTG+1 raises to 1200. Folded to Hero, calls the 800. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets 2500 into pot of 2500 Villain thinks for a few minutes and raises all in. He had previously raised all in with mid-pocket pairs. Hero calls (bad call?) I felt pot commited and didn't think he had ace queen, jack queen.I decided he either had a pocket pair or an ace with a decent kicker and likely atleast one spade. Villain flips over A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Turn:K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Giving villain Flush King high and a ace high straight Hero has 2 pair. River: blank Any thoughts on hand appreciated. Mistakes i made? Not sure if I posted this correctly...feel free to correct me if I have made mistakes |

Good call. I don't mind pot sized bets if you have the reads that your villains will call them on draws. This is quite typically the case.

1.) with your stack size and read of villain i think this is a very easy push preflop - i don't like the call in the big blind without position.
2.) on the flop this is definitely a push - this board is draw heavy and you might get some FE against a single spade. 3.) as played the call to his reraise was clear |

Re: Calling all in with top pair on flop with 3 spades on board...
Thinking about it now I defiantly should have gone all in on the flop, putting him on a decision for all his chips with just a draw might have made him fold...probably not though with the tournament structure. Thanks for the replies
