Default good time to float?

history between me and villain: folded to me on button i raise to 14 with AQ he re pops me to around 40 and i call. flop he leads for 72 and i fold when rags come.

this hand. im on button, folded to me, i raise to 14 with 44 and he repops me to 40 again. i decide to call and float a QT9 flop when he leads for 72.

so....what to yall say.
fold PF
fold flop
float it (intentions to bet if he checks turn)

might be a standard fold, but these two hands happened pretty close together. i felt like he didnt gimme credit PF

Fold preflop or if you're feeling frisky, try a 4-bet...But 98% of the time, fold.
