Default $20 SNG crazy move or is it so crazy i just blew my mind

I hoped quoting Kramer might get more looks at this. I got berated for this play but I thought it was reasonable gamble. Any thoughts appreciated.

$20 SNG five players left stacks for players involved are:

Button 2600
SB 400
Hero in BB has 2400

Blinds are 100/200

Button raises to 600 (He has been stealing more than his fair share so I feel he has wide range here but not total garbage)
SB goes all in for 400

Hero in BB has Ah8h and reraises all in.

My thinking was I very likely had best hand and button would fold most of his hands out of respect/fear and with this raise and button fold I end up putting 400 into pot , take 200 back from side pot and end up with a pot of 1200 of which only 400 is mine giving me 3-1 and even if my ace is only an overcard to a pair it isnt too bad a layover. The risk is the buton having a calling hand but my read was he was raising light. Any thoughts on the principle here.

Button berated me for mot cooperating to eliminate the 5th place small stack which felt was ridiculous.

Thanks

How many places pay? If you're pretty sure villain is raising a wide range and can fold I play it the same. Seems pretty standard with your read.

this is a balla move

But even if the button is weaker then A8 (wich is not certain at all) you also have to beat the SB who will have ATC of course.

i don't know the sidepot is a little to small for me to take this risk.
if the sidepot is big enough i'd do it with ATC just to punish the weak play.
In this case Button has no right to berate you because he was the one to raise in the first place, if he wanted a check/check to get the shortstack out he should of just limped

I think the size of the sidepot is fairly insignificant to the decision in this case. If his read that the button is stealing really wide here is correct, the 200 he wins in the sidepot essentially gives a freeroll on the main pot holding the likely best hand.

(He sticks in the 200 he wins from the sidepot for a chance to win the 1000 in the main pot.)

It's a riot that the button, who raised to isolate the SB (knowing he's probably coming along with ATC) with OP's dead money padding the pot, then berates OP for not "cooperating."
