You guys are missing a ton of profit if you don't ever play like this. Granted, this is a clear muck, or at least turn your hand over and ask the table what they would do with it, because advertising is +EV. But I win a ton of money by betting the turn with air after a 'safe' looking card comes up. When someone calls my turn bet, it usually means the turn gave them a flush draw, and then I bet the river, hoping the river didn't pair their flush draw cards. Turn bet = +EV, anything after that, yuck.

The turn bet hits too many draws that you have to A) have miss and B) not raise you and C) you still have to fire the river. When they're going to call the river > 40% of the time it makes it a rather large mistake to bluff in this small of a pot with this holding. Rob |

OP: change the flop to 882 and bet it vs 2 tight/weak players and your steal is reasonable.
889J is not a good board for this, however. and if you wanted to make a move, you should have done it on the flop. actually, forget it, making a move on a 889 board is just bad period. |

yes, yes, yes, the board is TERRIBLE to bluff at on the flop against an open CO limper
however, betting the turn in this spot is a lot less terrible and I actually don't mind it all that much obv we fold when villain raises **EDIT** forgot to mention: I only bluff turn with SPECIFIC reads on both villains, CO in particular! |
