Legends Of Poker Day AA against UTG raiser
Legends of Poker Day 2, 300/600/100.
This was the 4th hands from the start of Day 2. I raised 2 out of the first 3 hands pf taking down blinds/antes. UTG 16K (a guy in mid 30s, no read, never played before) raises to 2500. Fold to me at MP+1 with two black Aces. I have 15K. Push, raise, call? |

ehhh it depends, do you think people behind are likely to squeeze an UTG raiser and MP1 call? if not I would probably move in.

Re: Legends Of Poker Day AA against UTG raiser
I think these stacks are actually kind of perfect for a smooth call with the intention of shoving over any c-bet on pretty much every flop. The good thing is, his raise size gives you at least some protection from overcalls behind you. I figure a c-bet will be about 4K, leaving the old dude less than 10K to call into an almost 20K pot. Not to mention we occasionally get some squeezes behind us.
edit: I assumed that 16K was the effective stack size. Is this true? |

Considering he has gone 4X and with these stack sizes can get commited pre flop quite easily, plus that in live people may hero fold QQ/AK here, i really like a call.

He clearly likes his hand here, I wouldn't give him the chance to get away from QQ on a K high flop or a whiffed AK.

Re: Legends Of Poker Day AA against UTG raiser
Rest of the stacks and table dynamics are pretty important, particularly the blinds. If the blinds are 15-30 BBs and look like they might be aggro then I like a call. If they are deep or very short then probably shove. I think UTG is about as likely to call any kind of a raise as he is a shove, so shoving is good as it can be a bit deceptive as far as your projected hand strength to both UTG and the rest of the table.

Call because he bets every flop and your smoothcall for 1/6 of your stack is never suspicious live.
