You flopped trips not a set and Yes it all seems fine to me other than bet a lil more on the flop so u can work your way to play for stacks.

bet more on flop, accordingly on turn and get it in on the river

exactrly, you wanna size your bets so that you can be all-in by the river. So like 3/5 of the pot on the flop, same on the turn and AI on the river.

villain held 97 ... is there any way...i could have not lost this pot? i reckon he would have called a 3/5 pot bet on the flop tooo...bu thanks about the advice with AI (i would have gone broke here but anyways)

i'd have check-called the river to minimise loss when he has us out kicked and also to give him a chance to bluff if he was floating with some overcards or a missed draw like 75 or T9

I think you're maybe too deep (27BB) to think you can get it all in by the river from a 2BB pot on the flop and have the best hand at showdown.
