check cashing for profit

hey check it out. im going back to finland soon and would like to accumulate free american dollars before i go. how do these check cashing places work? can i write a check to myself, cash it at one of these places, withdraw the money from my bank account before the check cashers can get it, fly back to turku and swim in a pool of gold coins like scrooge mcduck? will this work? and if so, why are check cashing places not ripped off like this all the time?

please advise.

ps: this will be the sickest trip report once i get back to turku with my bags of cash.
