Default Protecting my online accounts

Hey,
I plan on playing over some wireless networks in the near future. I cant trust the admins of these networks (net cafés etc), and need to know how to protect myself from someone intercepting my data.

Is firewall/anti virus software enough? I've asked Party and they said that this should be fine. If someone wanted to override these, could they?

Antivirus and Firewall are a plus, router you are using controlled by 3rd party and using WEP, is a security hole.
