I love this hand alot for some reason. Standard raise from UTG+1 pos. with 3 callers... 1. Should raise more pf with this hand or limp, seems like raise more from this spot and get reraised may be harder to get rid of. 2. Bet on flop too small?? 250 into 675 pot, maybe bet 400 to pot??? Figuring with 3 callers someone may have AQ QJ or a set, 3. Dont see how i can call that all in at all. About 25 hands with this player, not much of a read, except 25% vpip at that point and pfr about 10% and saw no hands exposed at this point from him. Any pointers on better ways to play this hand would be greatly appreciated. I seem to have some trouble with this type of hand. |

Re: KQs UTG+1 early on in 10/45 pokerstars
I think preflop is fine, Harrington reccomends a balanced strategy of raising with this hand UTG, but I think it mostly depends on table dynamics. If the table is tight I would be more inclined to raise it, if it had been loose and I have very little FE I would call.
2) Yes your bet on the flop was too small, I like a bet of 400 into this pot becaue now you will really know what you are up against. I think we are probably up against something like KJ, QJ, JT, AJ, 66, KQ, AQ, or maybe even JJ, or an slowplayed overpair, or something like ATs. I really think though that we are up against a combo draw like a pair and a flush draw or a pair and a straight draw. Even though you have one person to act behind you, I think we may be ahead this hand and because of your small flop raise, I would probably shove to Isolate, and get ready to win a coin flip. |

Yeah what Coz said basically, a bet of like 450 on the flop is going to deny implied odds for the various draws out there; as played you may have priced MP1 into calling here. And yeah I think you do call here or iso shove rather, don't fold now because the pot is large and you will see draws or random stuff like q9s quite a bit.

Re: KQs UTG+1 early on in 10/45 pokerstars
Your flop bet caused all of these problems. It left you with not quite the odds to make this an easy decision, and encouraged people to call and play back at you. Given that, in this particular spot, I think you have to just push and pray. I actually would have bet like 500 on the flop, and AQ and QJ are just getting my chips, there's so many draws out that there's just no way I can fold here.
