Benefit - you don't miss what anyone else does when they see their cards.
Drawback - you look at your cards at the precise moment everybody at the table is looking at you. |

To me, anyway, I have never been able to figure out whether they have a monster hand or not just by looking at their reactions to the cards. So I much rather not give away information by looking at my hole cards when everyone else is busy looking at their cards.
What I have found useful is looking at the people to my left and see how they would reacted. Why is that important? Because they act after I do. A lot of times they raise after I limp in and I had to waste my bet. I caught this guy reaching for his chips after he looked at his cards. And sure enough he had pocket aces. I was glad to have folded my AQo and save some money. |
