Default Strai Flus

Commerce 20. Strangely, opponents here are mostly unknown except for BB who is pretty passive and straightforward.

Two limpers and I decide to raise 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in the CO. Button folds, ShawnHoo folds his SB, BB and both limpers call.

Flop comes Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Checked to me, I bet, 3 callers.

Turn is 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Checked to me, sweet! free card.

River is 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Checked to me...

Who bets this? And I assume if you do bet, it's a fold to a raise?

EVERYONE.

I'd fold to a raise if they were straightforward.

Most loose/passives won't bet this river without the As, Ks, some won't even bet the Qs or Js here. However, the 9s is already out there so you only have 2-3 spades to worry about. I think this is a good value bet. You'll get looked up by any spade and probably a Q too after the turn check. I fold easily unless something looks fishy, like if the last guy before me C/Rs. Then I want a read.

Does anyone bet this turn?

I might take a shot here. If one of your opponents had a big spade they'd probably be afraid that everyone would check and they would not collect anything, given that you checked the turn. So they probably would have bet and not have gone for a check raise. There is a good chance you are beat, but I don't think you have to fear a raise. Out of position I'd check.

I like a turn bet here, fold to a raise, and check behind the river.

I don't think a turn bet is bad with the open ended straight flush draw and only one broadway overcard to your pair. But you run the risk of getting outplayed by a check raise semi-bluff.

Bet the turn, you have the best hand too often.

I don't like this at all.

You'll get CR'd by two pair and straights and all types of stuff, and you could be folding with as much as 30% equity.

In my opinion the turn check is very good(lots of people will bet here for a free showdown and I feel personally this is a bad spot to take one)

I don't see how you can't bet the river though.

Yeah Joe, I really don't like betting this turn. If I'm ahead I still don't have much equity, and since I'm behind a lot, this is a great spot for a free card (especially in the case that the 5s or Ts buys me 4BB worth of implied odds vs. the As).
