I thought he was just trying to bluff me on the river, since he wasn't showing much strength throughout the hand, and was just calling me.

Also could anyone recommend any books I could read to help my no-limit game? I've read Harrington on Hold'em Volume 1

Edit: Sorry, ran it through a hand history converter

You should have used a hand history converter and post in the full ring NL forum :x

Make a potsized bet on the flop, you're giving very good odds to draw for the flush. Also post if you got any reads on him. Try to figure out what it means if he donks it all in like that.

bet bigger on flop, potsize or close to potsize.
bet bigger on turn 3/4 pot. (punish draws)
edited: I hate calling donkoverbets, but it looks a lot like a busted draw. I think I call.

That's exactly what I thought. I thought he was drawing for a flush. And I figured he wouldn't just check on the turn if he just hit a 3 of a kind.

So I should've bet more on the flop, so he wouldn't have the odds to call a draw. Unlucky I suppose

usually when you are faced with that overbet at the river means you are beat.
ppl do this play if they think that they will get called.
someone might try to bluff you if the third club hits the river and you check to him but this is not the case here.
