Default 5/10: JJ set on turn- 9 handed at MGM

5/10 at MGM, 9 handed

I raise JJ from early position to $40. 3 callers.

Flop: Q-rag-rag

I check, everyone else checks.

Turn J- hearts, putting 2 hearts on the board.

I check. Pretty active guy from Denmark makes it $75. He's called a little light a couple hands and seems to give some action, but knows what he's doing. Folded to me and I make it $325. He calls.

River: 7 hearts

He has about $2,200 left. Hero??- whats your plan here?

about 500 probably. small enough to get value from AA/QJ/whatever, big enough to fold to a push pretty easily.

also, depending on his view of you and his level of acuity/aggression check/call might work as well if he's willing to raise a riv bet with a non-not flush, rather then being content calling. but if you check and he bets he's going to be ahead a lot more often than not, so i like bet/fold better, b/c he's checking KQ/AJ/etc behind, and betting a flush much more often than a bluff or hand < JJJ

I like a c/c. You say he's active; he'll for sure fire a decent amount.

The problem with b/f on turn is that he knows you dont have flush draw as played, so he can raise river with set/QJ.

Basically, he's bettin river for sure with hands that beat you and hands you beat. If you bet, he's sometimes raising you off best hand.

why do you prefer a bet/fold rather then the check/call option? isnt it a better defence from a bluff?

your goal isn't to avoid being bluffed - it's to make the most money. He's not going to vbet worse hands or bluff on this board, but he will call your value bet w/ worse hands.
