Default Ethics question…

I was invited to a two-table home tourney the other day, busted out and joined the cash game forming up as I had some time to spare and the game was marshmallow soft. Bought-in short (50bb).

I lose a few chips and I have around 25bb when this hand comes up. MP raises around 5, I call with 99, SB min. re-raises, MP calls I push my remaining chips, both call.

Flop comes 846. They both check. Turn blank, something like a deuce. Okay, I think, now that’s interesting. River brings a 7. SB checks again and MP bets. SB mucks with disgust, and I mumble, “You got a 5, huh?” (Makes a straight LDO).

MP flips over 85 of clubs (well worth calling 3 bet PF) and says: “Pair of eights.”

I gaze at the board, then flip my cards and say “Pair of nines”. Everyone at the table, accept a friend of mine sitting stone-quiet at EP goes like “Aawwwww” and they ship *me* the pot.

I felt kinda bad after that hand, although it wasn’t real angle-shooting on my part (I think) and obviously if MP is too dumb to recognize the best hand I’m not the one going to correct him.

What do you think? Am I a scumbag? MP’s fault? BASTAARD!!?

My friend is somewhat of a grammar nazi, and defines "douchebag" as follows:

"someone who feels they are entitled to more than they deserve"

You, sir, seem to fit this description to the T... this is a friendly home game after all, no?

Is this going to affect my karma in any way?

(Will not burn in hell for this)

You took the money even though you knew that you lost the hand. How are you convincing yourself that this is not stealing? Of course you are a scumbag.

Die in a fire.

Spelling > you (grammar).

We usually play cards speak and expect people to speak up if they see a winning hand losing. I'm not sure I'd want you in my homegame....But all that really matters is how you feel about it. Can you sleep at night? Well then, meh.

In the game of poker, cards speak.

If this would have happened to me, I would have told the guy:
"Actually you have a staight hommie".

You lost the hand to the guy and you should admitted the loss not just to the other people but to yourself and give the guy his chips.

How is this an ethics question? The only thing ethical at this point, is to let the guy whose money you stole, punch you in the neck for being such a SCUMBAG!
