Default AP .25/.50 - what to do with a maniac

Let's say the villain is like 75/25 over 80 hands or so. I see them play anything and everything, but he is more of an open-raiser/caller than habitual re-raiser.

Is it worthwhile to shove here in these 2 hands and play for stacks?

Hand 1

Absolute Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
9 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $65.10
UTG+1: $106.91
Hero: $48.50
MP2: $99.50
MP3: $96.90
CO: $63.50
Button: $49.95
SB: $70.49
BB: $95.75

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP1 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
2 folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $2</font>, 4 folds, <font color="#cc0000">SB raises to $10.5</font>, BB folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $48</font>, <font color="#cc0000">SB raises all-in $70.49</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero calls all-in $0.5</font>.

Hand 2

Absolute Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
8 players

Stack sizes:
UTG: $147.93
Hero: $40.50
MP1: $67.85
MP2: $98.40
CO: $70
Button: $38.87
SB: $53.50
BB: $62

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $2.5</font>, 3 folds, <font color="#cc0000">Button raises to $10</font>, 2 folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $39</font>

I would never fold these hands.

Sure. But is it better to shove these pre-flop or simply shove any non-threatening flop?

Hand 1 is ok, hand 2 might be a little too much.

We had a thread a few weeks ago where I said that with hands like AQs against a maniac, I prefer calling his PF reraise and then take him to valuetown when I hit the flop.

When you're not scared of rather big variance though, it's not wrong pushing those hands preflop as you'll def be ahead of his range here.

I see. However, with a valuetown approach (and an opponent that clearly does like foldin') don't we lose value from not having hands like AKs/AQs see all 5 cards? I am specifically talking about cases when we get pushed off on a threatening flop/turn.
