25NL Two pair with scary river card
Here is a common situation. You hit a nice hand and bet it on two streets and then the river comes an effs your hand up. In this situation the villain is bad with 40/7/.5 and seems like your standard loose passive. What is your play on the river and how does it change if the villain is an aggressive solid player? Against the loose passive I am betting small, maybe 1/3 pot knowing that he is only reraising with a queen and probably calling with lower two pair. Against your typical tag I am unsure what the best play is.

Re: 25NL Two pair with scary river card
For me, its the same for two different reasons. When I'm doing blocking bets, I bet them 3/8-1/2 pot depending on the texture of the board against passive loose players. They'll call with a lot worse hands, and rarely raise. So its all good.
Against TAGS- I bet about the same because if they sense weakness, they will raise you anyways sometimes. Dunno if this is good though. |

Re: 25NL Two pair with scary river card
I cc something small and cf to something bigger. So often these guys feel like they have to bet this river with A4o or whatever. But they bet small, because they know it is not a good hand and they see the straight on the board and they donīt want to risk too much. For me it is not enough for villain to be loose passive for me to bet here, he has to be paranoid as well.

Re: 25NL Two pair with scary river card
I put in a blocker of 1/3 the pot or so, gaining value from worse two pair, or top pair. if raised, obv fold.

Re: 25NL Two pair with scary river card
Out of curiosity how much do you all bet when you actually have the queen. I usually put out a small 1/3 blocker looking bet. Is there ever merit to checking?

Re: 25NL Two pair with scary river card
all-in on river is an AWFUL decision, being that he won't call with ANYTHING other than a Queen.
Bet 1/3 pot, fold to any raise... |
