Default Sklansky-Chubukov numbers. How do they apply when ITM?

How are SC numbers affected when ITM?

For example, I was playing in a tournament last week and there were 3 players left.
The payout was £450 for 1st. £130 for 2nd. £30 for 3rd.

The chip stacks were 25k, 10k, 10k. I was one of the 10k stacks. The blinds were 1.6k/0.8k

Is it better to play looser and try and steal the blinds or sit back and hope someone else get's knocked out?

Also, does this ITM situation put the value of the SC numbers up or down?

Should I be pushing marginal edges or folding them?

Sit N Go Power Tools (SNGPT) can be used to do run the profitability of pushing or calling a push in these situations. It does all the ICM calcs for you and you can set the ranges for your opponents yourself. You can also create your own payout structures (like the one you have listed) to get the most accurate answers.

Otherwise, you will need to do the ICM calculations yourself to determine if pushing or folding / calling or folding is correct.

is there a simple rule that can help me out?

like flat payout you should be pushing more than steep payout or vice versa?

if it was that easy then lazy people who don't want to do the work Sherm described wouldn't be as easy to play against

The typical rule is that the "GAP" is very wide. Meaning that you should be open pushing/raising much wider than you are calling a push/raise.

So while it may certainly be correct to open-raise with A2o from 1st position 3 handed, it is often incorrect to call a raise in the BB with A2o 3 handed.
