Just Announced: Main event day one now extended

The ME day one has extended from 3 days to 4. July 9th will now be another main event day, allowing the WSOP to accommodate a total of 11,000 players. Nobody is predicting this will occur, but they are prepared in the event it does.

Perhaps they're also trying to avoid a 'tent' situation.

Your kidding! It was ALREADY a crap shoot, and now they are predicting 1,100 players??

Geez, if I win the River of dreams package on Monday from the Rio (see other thread in this forum), I'm for sure taking the cash now!

As much as I hate for it to happen, I think for next year, the WSOP should be taking 'Cap' on number of players.

They could cap the number for advanced registration, and then have a set number to allow satellites to win their way ine.

My understanding is that the annex was always intended to be used.

Just went down to the registration area to switch from Day 1C to Day 1D now that there are 4 starting days. No one there had any clue, insisted there were only 3, and when I finally convinced them I wasn't making it up, said they couldn't do anything until the computer was changed, which it hadn't been. GG Bellagio Cup III Main Event, by the way.

I don't have a clue. Check pokernews.com for mere details, or the WSOP press releases, they may provide may provide more info over time.

Here's a news release. Effel says the change is for the "comfort" of the players. Also says that there will be 2 Day 2s - Tues 7/10 and Weds 7/11.

Hopefully, this will allow them to keep the levels at the posted 120 minutes, and no one is in a tent.

This is quite discomforting for me. I scheduled my time off work so that I would have to extend vacation only if I made it past day 3. Now I may have to do it if I get past day 1.
