Default Las Vegas Safety

This post is intended for those that live in Las Vegas and gamble seriously. How much of a problem is personal property theft in the city when going to and from casinos? Is it something to worry about when you leave a casino very late at night/early the next morning? Are there any ways to work around having to carry money on you when you are going to or leaving a casino? How common is theft in the parking garages? I've stayed in Vegas, but I took a cab everywhere, so I don't know what it's like to drive myself around.

If you are gambling large enough amounts that this is a big concern, use valet parking. It's only a couple bucks ("free" but of course you'll be expected to tip) so this shouldn't cut into your bottom line much for the peace of mind it will gain you.

Awesome. On more thing: Do most or all the casinos in the city have valet parking? I'm thinking about moving to the city in the next year or two, so I just want to be safe.

Valet is usually easier than self park.

The one exception to this would be Wynn since the parking lot is right next to the poker room. Orleans is this way also.

Venetian too, because of time more than distance.

People have, and too often, will be followed home after a big win and be attack. I would use valet always and esspecially watch if anyone is following you home.

Always have a cell phone, and if you fear your safty ... a permit for a gun is another option (with training).

Totally third hand information, but I was playing at a table at the Excalibur a couple days ago and one guy was talking about someone else he knows who got mugged (something like $400) near the Hooters casino earlier that night.

I park valet, but have been known to wander the strip late at night with much cash in my pocket.

On my first Vegas trip, I had lunch with a 2+2 author. We were joined by this unkempt fellow with the Ace of Spades tattooed on his upper arm (who would later be turned away from Bellagio for his improper attire). An hour later, with $2k in my pocket, the wife and I are careening down the Strip with this man in an aging pickup that threatened to breakdown at any moment (and finally did, some 14 hours later in the Luxor parking lot).

Safety is for pussies.

Oh, and the guy turned out to be okay, other than having an odd penchant for kicking people in the nuts...

You can take them into a casino? Because if not, then I don't see the point.
