Default maximum bet in Vegas

What is the maximum that a casino sportsbook (e.g. Mirage or Bellagio) will let me bet on a single game of baseball at one time? Will an unknown, walking in off the street, be allowed to bet 5K on a single game?

Thanks.

More knowledgeable people than I will chime in, but I am going to venture a guess that $5k is well below the maximum you can bet as an unknown. Baseball will certainly be lower than football, and they will probably double-check Pinnacle or their lines service to make sure it's not stale before they give it to you, but I doubt there will be a problem.

I've heard otherwise but I wanted to check. A poker player I know told me they refused to take a $3000 bet of his.

Pretty likely that you'll be able to do this at any major sportsbook.

Well Im at Bally's sportsbook and here is the answer I got.

I can bet $500-$1000 max depending on the game. If I had a players card and was a high rated player I could bet more depending on my rating.

This means, "If you're playing blackjack for $5000/hand, we're not going to limit you to $1000 baseball bets."

No way.

Regular season baseball game the most you'll get down for off the street is $500-$1k at Harrah's properties and slightly more at MGM properties. You might be able to bet $2k at Wynn or the LV Hilton. If they know you then you can get down for more, but even then it really depends on when you are betting, what side they want you to bet, etc. It is amazingly hard to get down for serious money ($5k+) in Vegas.
