OT (sorta) the davidross updates
it occured to me just now, that many of you are new enough that you probably have no idea what these are. Davidross is a 2+2 poster, oldguy like me, that ended up between jobs and decided to have a go at playing full time. he made weekly post about it all for a year.
If you ever wanna know what it's really like, they are must reads. someone compiled them all here. http://www.basictexasholdem.com/howigotstarted.htm let me know here if these are new to you, or if i've just lost my mind and everyone knows about em, duh. I'm guessing (hoping) they are new to a fair number of you. |

But, I'm not going to read them now cause I have to go to bed. But, I think I played 2/4 against him now at party? |

Re: OT (sorta) the davidross updates
He was a Zoo celebrity back in the days when the Zoo was the Zoo. I remember starting to read these soon after I got on 2+2 back in January 2004 and realizing, "holy [censored], you can do this for a living and you don't even have to play perfectly." I bought Pokertracker, dropped down to $2/4 full table limit so i could (gasp) start playing 3 tables at once instead of one, and started doing 3 BB/100 making $25/hour. Huge money.
Actually, the thing that struck me about him back then was his work ethic/determination. Goes a long ways. Oh yeah, and I remember that back then people were like, "OMG, Party hit 30,000 players, this isn't sustainable, online poker isn't going to last much longer (this was even before legislation concerns)." There was a thread about the coming demise of online poker like every week. I think I'm going to reread these things and reminisce. It's a solid and entertaining read for those who never have. These were the days when there weren't that many people making bling online, and it wasn't that clear that a good/decent living was to be had through online poker, so the added element of uncertainty to the possibility & sustainability of making a living playing online added a bit to the drama of it. |

Until they fixed it, anytime they hit 20k players it was imposible to play them. It was a contest between a hundred players to see who could see the table, open the table, click a seat, click the box, and say ok the fastest. nightmere, and of course party took FOREVER to fix it. |
