World Combat League
Has anyone watched any of this? It's actually pretty entertaining.
Team based martial arts competition. Each team has 5 guys and 1 girl, each in a separate weight class. All the rules are setup to encourage tons of speed, striking, and knockouts. Fights are 2 3minute rounds, each fight has its round 1 before any fight round 2 starts so the fighters are always going full speed. Holding/grappling/wrestling are all illegal. Even passivity is illegal (ie you can't run, you can't sit back and wait to counter). The team aspect isn't doing much for me, but the fighting is really fun to watch. I've seen 4 so far tonight and they've all resulted in a knockout in a few minutes. Lots of crazy spin kicks, roundhouse kicks to the head, etc. Check it out on Versus if you like fighting at all. |

Re: World Combat League
It's stupidly entertaining. Not a whole lot of depth to it since the rules basically mandate that the fighters have to just start flailing away at one another, but it satisfies my blood lust.

Re: World Combat League
I not really into kickboxing, but I do like their format. I think the IFL would be better if they adopted the exact team scoring system that the WCL uses.

Re: World Combat League
Meh, I like more traditional(lol?) MMA like the IFL. I miss Spike back in Canada.

Re: World Combat League
This is the Chuck Norris thing with the 2 foot divider surrounding the ring, correct?
Not my cup of tea, though I'd understand why people would be "stupidly entertained." |
