TUF5 finale
NO CONTEST.
I think that is ridiculous, if a fighter taps, he should loose no matter what. |

Re: TUF5 finale
It comes on in a couple of hours out here, I guess its delayed and some bs went down. I don't want to spoil it for myself but I'll check back after the fights.

In the grand scheme of things its a meaningless fight and who wins does not matter at all. Joe Silva saw the fight and knows that Maynard is a good fighter regardless of whether he got a win or NC. |

But I think that a tapout should superceed a knockout because the tapout is a concious surrender. There is a story from the ancient olympics, in which one fighter signaled surrender at the same time that the other fighter died. They declared the dead man to be the winner. |

Great show tonight, tough break for Manny as he was winning the fight.
Grey was such a whiner, he was unconscious. |

Re: TUF5 finale
Hard to say about that fight. Matt Hughes won a fight on a kind of similar situation. I always thought the "rule" was the first person to be ruled out was out. Or in a baseball way, the tie going to the aggressor.
As for Manny, I really feel bad for him. Especially since this seems to be a recurring theme for him. Its one thing to be knocked out or just beat, its another thing to lose on a fluke type of situation. Granted I thought Diaz was the better fighter, but it sucks to see someone train their ass off and lose (and have to tap) because of something like that. |

They (announcers) first said it was a tap out, so it doesnt matter if the guy was out. Then they (UFC/refs) ruled it a no decision. He was in a tough situation since anything Maynard says is probably going to contradict at least one of those opinions (most likely both).. Plus he needed to swing the audience back to thinking it was a legit decision. Crowds never like no decisions or draws. He had to fight for it, otherwise it fight hurt the vibe of the upcoming fights.. |

Re: TUF5 finale
I really wonder why manny hasn't had surgery on that shoulder if it's such a problem for him. It would seem silly to me for a person to screw with their record on an injury that has been a problem in the past and can possibly be fixed with corrective surgery. Obviously he wasn't going to have surgery before such a massive fight in his career, but not having it done at a point earlier seems to have screwed up his chance at winning TUF
