Default Opening an offshore bank account without being a resident ?

Are there any countries / banks that will let you open a bank account without being a resident of that country? I know this sounds like a rather shady question, but it's not for any tax evasion purposes -- i pay them every year in full FWIW -- ...I simply need to establish a bank account outside of North America.

You are right about the bahamas. You don't have to be a resident there nor own a business though. Good interest as well.
