Using chips from one tourney in another
What is to stop people from taking high denom chips from one tourney and bringing them into the next.
I think something like this happened last year but I also remember counterfeit chips being brought into play from the gift shop... |

Nothing. It sounds like a really good strategy. Post in strategy forum please.

Re: Using chips from one tourney in another
There are multiple chip sets, so you don't know which one to steal. Also, you are under surveilence, not just by the cameras, but the other players. There was already an incident of someone pocketing chips that led to their confiscation.

Re: Using chips from one tourney in another
why would you want to take your high denom chips out of play in the first tournament?

why would you want to take your high denom chips out of play in the first tournament? [/ QUOTE ] Because those added chips would be worth more respectively when the blinds are not as high. Let's assume you are at the final table heads up with someone where you each have 3,000,000 chips. If you were to take out 200,000 of these chips you would still have a resonable chance of winning the tournament. Just imagine you were allowed to do this... now you bring those 200K chips into the main event where you start with 20K chips. So you start off being the chip leader with 10x the average stack... a enormous advantage. That being said I could be wrong. Because maybe that EV of the 200k chips heads up in that match is worth just as much as the EV of using them in a different tourney when it starts. However, there have been countless threads from the good MTT players stating why having a big starting stack is a huge advantage. |

why would you want to take your high denom chips out of play in the first tournament? [/ QUOTE ] a better example maybe: You and your opponent have $1m in chips HU at the FT of an event with a first place of $200k and a 2nd place of $100k. You take 50k in chips off your stack. Your equity in the tourney before was $150k. Your equity in the tourney now is ~$146k. You take the 50k in chips to the ME and start w/ 60k. Assuming you are an average player, you just increased you equity in the ME by 6x. |
