Show One Show ALL? Am i wrong here?
So, I'm playing saturday night at Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson. I'm playing 3-6 and the room is crowded (the jackpot hadn't hit yet - though it did today, one table over ). I bet the river heads up against an annoying drunk dude on my left. he folds, and I flash him my 5 (flop came 55K). He's not even paying attention, as he's ordering a beer. I muck after receiving the pot, and the dealer turns up my cards and says 'Show One Show All'. Nobody had asked to see the cards.
I get upset and say 'what was that for?' she proceeds to explain the rule to me. I tell her i know the rule just fine, but nobody asked to see my cards. she says that the rule says that she MUST show the hand even if nobody asks. I get mad and ask her why people have been flashing cards all night and no other dealer has felt obligated to expose the hands. she offers to call the floor, and i say "no, i will just go ask the floor myself before i take a smoke break". I explain the situation to the floor, and ask whether my hand should have been exposed, or why no other dealer feels obligated to enforce this rule. the floor tells me i am right and i ask that the floor please explain this to the dealer. i then go outside for a smoke and i don't know whether or not the floor actually explained it to the dealer. though, i was back today, and when the same dealer pushed in, she immediately gave me attitude about everything. i still tipped her when i won a small pot and she was pretty surprised... |

Re: Show One Show ALL? Am i wrong here?
1. The dealer's an idiot who doesn't know what "Show one, show all" means. However, keep in mind that in some cardrooms (although not necessarily this one) the local rule is to show both cards if someone intentionally flashes one card.
2. You're a nit. You showed the five, ostensibly to be a nice guy, and then you throw a hissy fit because the dealer shows your other card. Lighten up, Frances. |

Re: Show One Show ALL? Am i wrong here?
Basically chesspain summed it up perfectly. Dealers an idiot and you're a nit.
However, I too am a nit at times, I had this one time at oceans 11 where the dealer did not move the button and I was asked to pay the small blind which was only $1, so I did - no problem. After conferring with the button and big blind, we decided that button was not moved, which is not a big deal - all the dealer had to say was my mistake, I thought I moved it. Dealer refused to admit that, said we we're all wrong and that he's dealt for "x" # of years.. yada yada yada basically getting an attitude ... so that was it, I told him to F off, I ran and asked the floor to look at the tape, I told the floor I swore at him, I felt bad - but he made me angry, pls look at tape and let me know. I smoked, came back floor said we were right, I asked floor to tell dealer he was wrong and don't be so quick to dismiss players next time... blah blah blah blah this story just reminded me of that.
