1500 wsop nl
my friend tells me i'm an idiot for playing my hand the way i did, but i think i played it just fine. he said to post it on 2p2 and see what they say, so i am. i had been at new table for 2-3 rounds and hadnt played a single hand and im a female that no one there has played with, so i get the feeling they think im tight/weak.
blinds 300 and 600, 75 ante. gets folded around to cutoff, who seems like a solid good player, he has about 18k. he raises to 1800. sb folds, im in BB with 7100 and q5 suited. i shove. im hoping he just folds since i think he thinks im tight, and he raised first in in the cutoff, and would probably do that with a lot of hands. also, im getting to the point where i gotta make a move. what do u think? |

Re: 1500 wsop nl
It's definitely not the worst play ever, but I don't like it. The problem is that it costs him 5300 to win 9950, so he's getting very good odds to call with a very wide range of hands. If he's a good, solid player that means he's going to call a very strong % of the time.
There's no reason to put you on a huge hand given that you are so short on chips, so it's hard for him to have 2 cards that don't get the 35% or so that is required against your range. |

Re: 1500 wsop nl
i agree with curtains/djk. like 9k stack and i like it alot more. as is i think probably too weak of a hand considering how often we'll get called.
that's assuming that 'seems like a good player' means that he's opening semi-frequently in LP. edit: THOUGH. i think resteals are probably more effective live, because it's harder to see how much is in the pot compared to size of the bet. Though, this probably goes both ways, when theres a bunch of small chips in the pot they'll probably eyeball it as being too big. -- heh, so i'm not sure what i just said/meant. |

Re: 1500 wsop nl
I like it a lot, this will work way more than often enough imo (although only live and probably only because you're a girl/haven't done anything to show you're not super nitty)

Anyway depends on opponent, since they said they were a good and solid player, I figured their chances of calling were relatively high. But ok it's true that a lot of female players are ridiculous nits, so can't hurt to take advantage of that. Was that sexist? I had a great hand the other day in a satellite. The blinds were 200-400, I went allin from 3 off the button with 22 and 1800 chips. SB is a woman who calls off her last 1500 chips while saying "ahh what the hell". Before we turn our cards over she says "I'm sure you've got me" and of course she has JJ!!! |

Re: 1500 wsop nl
Perfect.
Good stacks (although it would be nice if you had a few more chips.) Good image. Good time to seize on weakness (vs the CO.) And, you might be live if called. |
