Default Inagural tournament report. Long with L/C buts lots of NITS!

Cliff notes: New tourney in town with lots of nits who cry and whine like the biaches they are.

---------------------------

Cypress Bayou Casino here in South Louisiana had their Inaugural Poker Tournament last night. Its their first foray into tourney poker, and they were very wary that it would not be popular. Ha!

60 players seated got first choice to play the 6:30pm tourney (60 player total btw with 10-15 alternates), by registering starting at 4pm. I figured 4pm was plenty enough time to get there, get a 3-6-12 seat, and then bump up to the tourney. As I rounded the corner to the poker room, I saw no less than 9 tables going, and over 100 people waiting to play. WTF?!? Floor told me the list was nearing 200 so I blew it off.

I called 2+2er, Brock, who was on his way, and told him the whats up. He said, let's gambool anyway and do some nit watching. Fine by me. I grabbed a beer and let the nitfest begin.

Nit #'s 1-3. Now you tell me if this is nittish or just smart. 3 nits/smart players went from table to table and asked the seated players if they were planning to buy into the tourney. Each nit/smart player (you decide) found someone who wasn't playing and gave them the buy in money along with the nit's/smart player's club card and had them buy the nit/smart player into the tourney. Nit or Smart?

Other nit stories. I counted dozens and dozens of nits trying desperately to convince the floor that because they were "regulars" that they should get a seat. To the floor's credit, he did not give in once.

Even more nits. Again to the floor's credit, nit after nit harrassed, harranged, threatened, tried to bribe and otherwise cussed out said floor, but he handled it with class each time.

Understand that this is a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR TOURNEY! We're not talking WSOP bucks here folks. These nits were in physical pain when they realized that they couldn't play.

Anywho, me and Brock have been slamming back quite a few, not gambooling, just drinking, watching, and laughing. Around 5:15, alot of the games were starting to break down as players were getting something to eat before the tourney. Floor said we could play for an hour or so. Brock went to 5/5 NL, and I sat down at 3-6-12.

I take seat 1 next to the dealer. I tread water for 30 minutes, working on a good drunk, when this hand comes up...I warned you! LC!

I'm on the button and its folded to the CO (local 132 year-old rock) who calls, I see that the dealer has dealt me 2 cards face down, so I raise. BB calls, and the flop comes 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

BB checks, rock bets, I still notice those 2 face down cards and raise, BB calls, rock calls.

Turn is 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

BB checks, rock checks, I bet 6, they both call.

River is 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

BB and rock check, I bet out 12 (here you can get 6 or 12 on the river). BB lol's and calls, rock looks at his cards, curses and mucks them in digust.

I can now finally see what my cards are and turn over Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB turns over Ax something. Rock starts cursing me up one side and down the other. Whole table is cracking up, including the dealer while splitting the pot.

Our table broke at the tourney started, and I watched in horror as pot after pot was limped like a 3-6-12 game. I could only dream of what might have been.

2 thumbs up for Cypress Bayou Casino, despite the chaos, they handled it very well and I look foward to trying my hand next week, although I'll have to arrive at noon I guess!

Sounds as if they are doing a great job. Glad you have a fun place to play. Good luck next weekend. Hope you aren't toasted by 6:30
