Probably a dumb question: safe to take dekstop on airplane?
I was thinking of checking it as luggage. LCD monitor has a carrying case, but tower would go as checked. Not sure what to put in yet tho (suitcase with clothes/padding or some special box). I'm worried about bumpiness of ride and baggage handlers. Any advice appreciated

Re: Probably a dumb question: safe to take dekstop on airplane?
For the ease of not having to carry it with me, I'd probably just mail it to where I'm going. Plus I don't trust airlines.
Try not to yell "Ship it!" at the FedEx lady. |

Re: Probably a dumb question: safe to take dekstop on airplane?
obviously a desktop pc is a fragile device - stuff can get shaken free, or dropped clumsily.
obviously good packaging would reduce this risk. (proper pc box, dedicated packaging, etc) i don't understand what other advice you are seeking here. |

Re: Probably a dumb question: safe to take dekstop on airplane?
I had a laptop packaged in the original box and packaging and sent it through check-in because I was trying to follow the rules and only bring one carry-on item. They destroyed the screen and refused to make good, pointing a huge list of exclusions that contains anything of value you would ever carry on a plane.

Re: Probably a dumb question: safe to take dekstop on airplane?
i have taken a desktop on a plane several times, and it has been ok for the most part almost every time. you need to pack it in its origonal box with all the styrafome. it will get thrown around and stuff will screw up, but ive had a decent experience doing it.
