Default Greatest \"web gems\"

Baseball Tonight has their weekly "web gems" in which they highlight the great defensive plays of recent time.

But let's stretch this out. What is the greatest "web gem" of all-time.

My vote goes to Ozzie Smith's diving barehand grab and then getting up to throw the runner out at first.

That's my favorite. It's not just that it's barehanded. It's that he dove, planning to catch it in his glove, and in mid-air had to reach behind himself to catch it off the bad hop.

Degree of difficulty on the Edmonds over-the-head catch is insane also. Could be my second favorite, though Griffey crashing into the wall is up there too.

They did an all-time web gems on the show a few years back. You can find it on youtube. The Ozzie play was #1.

Can't find it on youtube anywhere, but Ryan Freel in '04 I believe had a diving, running back, over the shoulder catch against the Cubs. Still the best play I have ever seen - even the Cubs announcers said it's one of the greatest catches you will ever see. Reds fans with vid, please post.

Chavez's leap last year was pretty awesome, agreed.

I always liked Wright's barehander down the third baseline, and I still get goosebumps of Jeter in NYY v. OAK.
