NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
Not sure if this is the right forum, but I was hoping I could get some help with my first week of NFL Fantasy Football: Survival.
For those that don't know, Survival format is you pick one team per week. If they win, you move on. The catch is you can't pick the same team more than once for the entire season. Last man standing wins. Anyone have some good strategy ideas for this? I need to win bragging rights this season in my friends' league. What teams should I be looking at the first few weeks? Cheers |

Re: NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
How many people are entered in the league?
Week 1 is always the hardest week on these things, but off the top of my head, the steelers have won 20 of their last 23 games against the browns: http://www.afc-north.com/rivalry/clepit.html |

Re: NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
I think like 8 are registered right now, but there are about 15 invites out so it could get larger.

Re: NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
I've never done this, but the standard advice I hear is don't try and get too cute. Don't say, "I would take Indianapolis this week, but I really want to take them five weeks from now against team x." Just worry about the current week.

Re: NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
Last year I went with the strategy to pick the home team with the biggest spread in that particular week. I'm going to be more objective this year, but that's a good basic strategy.
The best lines that week are JAX (-6.5) vs. HOU, NE (-6.5) at NYJ, and SEA (-6) vs. TB. I'd take your pick between JAX and SEA. Both are at home and are decent favorites. I'm pretty sure the Texans beat Jacksonville twice last year, so maybe they have their number. I like Seattle week 1. |

Re: NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
we've always allowed survivor discussion. I don't see any problem with it. Usually there's just one active thread a week.

I'm going with Jax in week 1. I try and stick to home teams.

Re: NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
IMo, Dallas with the Giants coming in is the pick. I might consider taking a chance with Minnesota (vs. Atlanta at home)in my cheaper league, but then again I am a giant wuss and I wont do it

Re: NFL Fantasy Football: Survival
I'll bury this solicitation here, since I didn't want to start a new thread (and if it's not allowed mods, feel free to remove) but I just started a Survivor pool on Yahoo and am looking for participants (just $20 a person). I'll be going to at least two fantasy drafts in the next couple weeks, and will get some takers there- and most of these guys aren't the savviest football minds, so there should be an overlay. But it would be good if I could tell them there's already a couple hundred bucks in the pool.
Anyway, PM me (or e-mail me at legend42 at earthlink.net) for details, if interested. And again, I apologize if this is against the rules, and please remove if so. |
