I am proud in so many ways to be an American. Things like this make me wish I lived in Lebanon....well not really. But you get my gist

Lebanon sucks in many ways, but it's a much better place to live (when it's not in the middle of armed conflict) than at least 60% of the world elsewhere.

For the record though, gambling in lebanon sucks. No poker in sight.

I think they pled guilty as the evidence was overwelmingly against them and there might be a deal in place to avoid either jail or a large jail sentence.

Just a guess but it seems likely that the government was willing to offer generous terms as to avoid the case going to court and possibly setting presidents that they wouldn't like. Right now they can scare a lot of companies with the proposition that certain questionable activities are illegal. If it turns out that those propositions are baseless legally, they lose even if they end up convicting the company on other grounds.
