Please help!!!!! Internet problems

Hi,

My internet sometimes slows down badly when I'm playing that I keep getting timed out of hands. It then comes back, and the green bars indicating I am connected to the internet remain present.

Why is it sometimes it runs perfectly, like today from 11am till 6pm, and then goes slow?

I live with 7 other housemates if that could be the cause of this problem.

Please put down anything you may think be the problem. Would it scientifically make any sense to try switching off and back on my wireless router and/or laptop?

ps. we all run off wireless and my room isnt close enough to the router to run it off ethernet or usb.

i feel that it is likely that a slowdown from around 6pm is related to other loads on the service.

this could be:

a) other users in the house

or

b) if you use cable, other users in the area


i would not be surprised if 6pm onwards was the peak load for most residential internet services.

your ISP is probably overselling its bandwidth. Happens all the time. Feel free to call and bitch at them, but in the end they wont do [censored].
