Default 600NL I know he has trips, so I push

Very first hand that I sat down, so no reads/stats on villain. That probably makes this play horrible, but I think it might be okay against the average 600nl player who is at least doing some higher level thinking. Maybe the bigger problem is I am unknown to him, so he might not be able to lay down trip aces to an unknown.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $6 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Hero ($600)
UTG ($643)
MP ($136.10)
Button ($213.30)
SB ($640.80)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
3 folds, SB completes, Hero raises to $24, SB calls $18.

SB checks, Hero bets $38, SB calls $38.

Turn: ($124) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $105, SB calls $105.

River: ($334) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $433 (All-In)

doesnt usually work so well for me.

also, this 2-barrel usually works best when
1) theres some other overcard scare cards that you might be able to use on the river. On an A high board this isnt the case.
2) you hit your draw on the river. I mean, if he's got an ace he'll pay off anyhow so why turn this into a stack-spew?

I doubt he check/calls 2 streets with an A to check/fold a river A. I would bet like 200 on river just to fold out a flush draw, since I don't think the extra 233 bet accomplishes anything. Also the fact it's your first hand at the table probably makes this pretty big spew.

as for your bet size idea, in many situations where they'll call anything with the best hand and fold anything with a busted draw, smaller bluffs are better. here, i think a shove has a better chance of folding out an ace than a "value bet". its just a matter of whether the price is right for a bluff at all. it obviously also depends a lot on the level that he's on. some opponents i'd shovebluff here, some i'd valuebetbluff.

agreed, if he got there with an ace I dont see why he would fold now. If anything your river shove looks like you missed your fd and gets you looked up more lightly. Especially as its your first hand at the table Id take the card on the turn rather than two barreling an unknown.

I think this is bad because this is the same line I take with a boat here if I want to get paid. Seems like spew against an unknown.

Good play- no way ANYONE EVER folds trips here making it this far, especially since hearts missed. Perf line imo

This line never seems to work with me, especially in a blidn battle. I also don't like the fact that he is completely unknown and you are trying this.
