Jam and pat 100%. Especially in the low-limit games where you'll virtually never get raised by a worse hand.

Re: 2-7 TD: Pat 9 from the SB..
I find patting no-draw nines adds just about the right amount to my mix to keep people drawing dead against my sevens and eights. And they're very marginally -ev if at all; one or two 100% dead bets will make up for many times patting a nine as an underdog. It does take a fair amount of skill at playing them to keep from spewing, but it's pretty easy at 3/6 where a raise from most players is totally reliable.

Re: 2-7 TD: Pat 9 from the SB..
I fold this, but to those advocating patting and jamming, what's your plan if a Villain draws 1 and is happy to cap every subsequent round with you (and is also pat)?

[/ QUOTE ] Muck it at the first sign of aggression. Fold to a raise on round 2 or 3, fold to a bet if you get to the river & check. |

Re: 2-7 TD: Pat 9 from the SB..
I'm still new at this game, but I'd be in there raising. If everyone draws at least twice, you're likely a huge favorite. I'd start this hand very agr and see how it played out.
They are likely drawing better, but they still have to get there.... |

I think its a fold. Would jam and stand pat when a bit tilty. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I'd probably do the opposite. I'd usually pat/jam but would fold if I was losing because I wouldn't trust myself to play it well and folding now has got to be better than making a bad calldown or fold later. [ QUOTE ] Especially in the low-limit games where you'll virtually never get raised by a worse hand. [/ QUOTE ] This I agree with completely. At 3/6 the chance of someone forcing a bad fold (similarly there won't be a spot where you are making a bad calldown) is extremely slim and the hand should play out pretty straightforward/easily. |

It's still a good idea to bet-fold and check-call rivers from time to time. I've been known to jam the hell out of these in the right spot, but mostly you fold to aggression. These are win-win hands: you either win a nice medium-sized pot, or you fold and look weak, encouraging people to raise you light when you're pat. If you're in a game where they already do that, folding starts to become a much better idea. |
