Handling cash during WSOP side events
I am thinking of playing WSOP side events, along with satellites and the $1K 2nd chance tournaments. It seems like there is a significant amount of money involved. Is there a problem bringing cash on the plane in either direction? Can I wire money to the Rio? I guess I can take some out with my bank card each day, but I don't want to be taking a lot out with credit cards. If I win, can I wire some of the money back to my bank? Should I keep most of my cash in the hotel combination safe in the room? Is there a better place to keep cash?

Re: Handling cash during WSOP side events
rankings of cash security when in vegas:
1. casino safety deposit box 2. in-room safe 3. on your person 4. in your luggage you can easily get 20k onto a plane. a bank wire is 100% safe, but it does produce a paper trail. |

Re: Handling cash during WSOP side events
i think your best option is bank wire, thats what im going to do to fund all the tournaments im going to play. hopefully the process of buying into events with your wired money is easy, but it probably wont be. i suspect that youll have to go to the main cage to get chips and then buy into events with those chips. it would probably be easier to just cash your entire wire out in chips and carry those chips around.
the rio has boxes which should be available to use, however there was a scandal last year about how someone got into a box that wasnt their own. pretty scary stuff. the rio # for wiring money is 7023572811 |

Wiring funds to Rio and then registering for events when you arrive will require a trip to the cage. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't want to preregister by wire before I go out there, because which events I play in depends on whether I am still in other events, as well as what's available in satellites and cash games. From what I am hearing, I think I will wire some and take some in cash, with the possibility of taking out some with my card or wiring it later. I guess if you win a lot, you can take the money back in cash or wire it (which leaves a paper trail). |

betgo,
fyi you can always get refunded from events you've registered for if you're still in the previous day's event. Last year, I obtained a box a week or two into the series, so I don't think availability is that scarce. |

Re: Handling cash during WSOP side events
You can wire money to the RIO, and access it at the cage they have set up in the ballroom. There is no need to go to the main cage in the casino for anything. You just take the cash from one window to the tournament registration window and register for the tournament. Pretty easy.
