Yi Jianlian - 2007 NBA draft.
I see the mockdraft at nba.com has him going 6th to Portland, I'm wondering how this fits with team, I have no idea about how this team has been playing and what there roster might look like next year or their prospects. Yi Jianlian has a huge amount of hype about him in China and people would talk to me about him almost as much as Yao when I was there.
I've seen some of his play from the worlds but he really needs to add some size before anything is clear though he is a substantially faster and fitter player than Yao, I see he's now listed at 6'11 although I thought he was listed as 7'1 during the worlds. What position can he fit into at Portland? If anything could this just be a pick to get Portland on the radar in China or even on the radar at all? |

teams don't waste a #6 pick in the draft just to "get on the radar in China".

Re: Yi Jianlian - 2007 NBA draft.
I don't think this fits what Portland is looking to accomplish. I think they're trying to clean up their image adding recognizable US college guys ala Roy. They would also like to try and start winning now so I don't see a guy like Jianlian being added. Ha Seung Jin was a complete waste for the team. As far as cultural impact, he is being spoken about like Yao was so that could be a positive but I see them going with a college guy at #6.

Re: Yi Jianlian - 2007 NBA draft.
I would think the Blazers are trying to follow the recent trend of small ball from the success of the Suns, Raptors and now the Warriors.
C- LaMarcus Aldridge PF- Zach Randolph SF- Ime Udoka SG- Brandon Roy PG- Jarret Jack With Travis Outlaw and Juan Dixon coming off the bench. The addition of Yi JianLian would be great for the team. Definitely a great resemblance from the Warriors this year, with a lot of potential from Roy, Aldridge, and Outlaw. |

Serge Rodriguez, when he gets PT, is a great leader on the floor and should develop nicely. Outlaw definetly looked great to end the year and I don't think they've given up on Martell Webster yet. I think they take the best young player available this side of the world. |

Agree with the 3 above. They would be a good fit in Portland. Especially Brewer, but Brewer would fit on any team.

it's amazing to think that the suns will probably have a lottery pick from the hawks, and the suns may pick someone like jeff green who would fit great in the offense.
