I've been multi-tabling the $1.20's for the past few weeks and am running hot. I've built a BR up to $100 from my original $50 deposit. My ROI for the $1.20's is 20% at the moment, but that's with a VERY small sample size (180 games - yet I don't think it will be difficult to increase that percentage). I know this isn't enough to prove that I'm a winning player, but I know I can beat that level with ease.
Now I was just wondering if: 1) a $100 BR is a sufficient enough roll for the $3.40's (that's around 30 buy-ins) 2) there is a big jump in terms of competition from the $1.20's to the $3.40's 3) If I should keep on playing the $1.20's to get a better sample size before moving up a level 4) If turbo tournaments differ that much from regular structured tournaments (more pushbotting near the end of tournaments?) I'd appreciate any answers and help given. I just want to make sure I make the right decision and don't rush in moving up a level. |

im pretty sure there is no diffrence at all skillwise.
my experience from 3,40 is..they call so bad so just openshoving big hands at any level pay off. (no matter stacksizes). Their callingranges are so loose so u hardly find +EV in the end where you find +Ev at any level above 3.40. i was at 100$ BR last november and tried the 3.40's but soon found out the 6,50's are so much easier and made a bankroll from the 6,50's instead. to the 4) they differ a bit. you often come to bubble with bigger stack compared to the blinds at the regulars making it nececary to actual "play poker" sometimes. In regulars you find very litte ICM knowledge around the bubble. I tried multitabling the 10+1$ regular at stars recently but your ICM edge doesnt really make up for the time invested imo. |

Your bankroll and sample size is pretty small. Do yourself a favor and play at least another 100-200 tourneys before you move up. Nothing will suck more than going busto and having to deposit again. Keep reading the forum and post some hands and when do move to the next level you should have no problem.

There's likely to be very little skill difference (however there will be SOME difference as the lowest limit a "casino" offers always has people who don't even know how to spell poker) but the main concern is your bankroll. Even though the players are bad, [censored] happens that's out of your control.

3.40s are ridiculously easy, u will be fine (I have never played the 1.20s)
I suggest only 4tabling while you try to move up, no reason to try to 8-10 table while u just take a shot 6.50s are easy as well, 16s im playing as well, and for example, i just had AA on 2nd hand, button makes it 60, i make it 250, low board, i push, he calls with JJ and spikes a jack... be prepared for idiocy at all of these levels, its almost ridiculous but play solid and get your money in good and you shouldn't have a problem going busto |

Do the 3.40 cause you can probably beat them. But move down as soon you are on a bad streak and build it up again at the $1's.
Start with 4tabling and take alot of notes. After that you can start 6 or 8 tabling them. Notes really help out on this level, people dont switch up their game. |

If you have a strong ROI (which you wouldn't really know from the start unfortunatley) you can start higher because the variance will be low at these levels, and the play up to the 6.50s is horrible. Honestly if you don't really mind redepositing if things go horrible wrong then take a shot at 6.50s for a few games and see what happens, and at the very least jump to the 3.40s. The rake is horrible in both of those games though.

Well I played my first set of 4 a little while ago, and faired OK. Finished 2nd on two tables, bubbled on another and got sucked out on on the other. In general the play is just as bad. I noticed people playing rag hands OOP but there do seem to be a few more people who are aware of how to play SNG's. I guess as long as I make a note of who those people are I should fair OK.
Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. |
