Door-to-door broadband/phone/home security sales
Anybody seen this?
And why exactly do some of the companies think that door-to-door sales is the best possible business model? I had some dude at my door tonight from something called FirstLine selling home security systems. In the neighborhood, he has an "advertising budget" that he's willing to use to pay for the system, in return for signing up for service, and having a sign in my yard, etc. They sell and install GE home security products apparently, and are aligned with Honeywell somehow. Guy goes through the whole spiel, and gets to where he wants me to fill out some paperwork, etc. I obv say "hey, let me check these forms out and give me a number I can call you back at." He says "actually, it's illegal for me to leave these with you (dangerous paperwork, lol)." So of course I told him I wasn't going to be signing anything. After googling they appear to be a legit service provider, but they apparently sell broadband service, VoIP, and Dish Network service, along with the home security stuff. I also found their recruiting web site, which promises college students 20k in average earnings for working for the summer. Good stuff. Anyway, curious to see if people have seen these guys going door-to-door. It also reminded me that I'd kill myself before doing a job like that. |

Because they can get retard college students to work on commission so it's pretty much free money?

Re: Door-to-door broadband/phone/home security sales
I've got a "No Soliciting" sign on my front door, right next to the freaking doorbell. Door-to-door sellers still ring the doorbell.
I always plan to hit them with the same line: "Did you not see the sign, or do you not know what that big word means?" But in every case so far, it immediately becomes clear that they either don't know what that big word means, or they literally can't read. |
