I'm pretty sure I played this badly. How should it have gone down??

Re: Stars $16 - TT hand early on
i'd limp pf.. raise is defensible in late mp i guess
contibet is meh, two villains, drawheavy flop, an overcard, and, what would make me check is that if you bet in position, it looks like a steal.. just limp pf and save yourself from a lot of problems |

Re: Stars $16 - TT hand early on
Not bad IMO. I'd check behind on the flop sometimes with my draw. As played I'd fold the river too.

i'd limp pf.. [/ QUOTE ] I come from a 6-max limit hold'em background which means the idea of open limping has been drumed out of me pretty hard, especially with T-T in the hijack. Someones gonna have to give me a pretty good explanation of why to do it before I go down that shady road. |

[/ QUOTE ] basically we walk this shady road to preserve chips early on and use them as pushbot ammunition later. TT is a really strong hand, but also one which leads to a lot of trouble postflop. if you get one caller, ace flops - hand gone. random overcard, contibet gets raised - now it's readdependent, but mostly I fold anyway. basically you don't want to play big pots which those seminice hands like 99-JJ, AJo, AQo this early/blinds so low. but I'm not so experienced, so don't rely too much on what i wrote. in limit i guess you should minbet TT all day here. |

Re: Stars $16 - TT hand early on
I like the raise pf - you can probably just make it 90 instead of 100, it'll do the same thing. from that position i'm always raising probably 88+ AJs/AQo+ - chances are you'll have position and a cont. bet will do the trick when just a K or a Q flops. I'd also check behind the flop with the 2 callers since on a board like that you're probably beat with 2 callers, or it's going to be super expensive to try and price someone out. Good fold on the river.
Kibby's old hand post is one I'd look at for some basic guidelines to beating the 6.50s, but I think a lot of the information carries up to the 16s as well. I'll search for it when I get home and post here, but he advocates raising tens even from EP/MP, not just MLP. |
