Bad line? JJ with overs
Villain has been pretty active, only about 20 hands in but he has played a good amount of pots, limping and raising lots. I had been pretty inactive.
How do you like this line? Should I have bet the flop? Re: Bad line? JJ with overs
I make preflop 120.
As played, I make the flop 250-300ish. If he doesn't have anything, he's folding. If he calls, then you slow down and see what he does on the turn. If he checks the turn, then you can check behind. And then call a river bet less than all-in. Also, if he check-raises the flop, you probably could fold. By checking the flop, you are pretty much signaling that you have a weak(er) hand. By calling the turn, you are saying you really don't have anything. |

Re: Bad line? JJ with overs
t120 PF. Flop is an obvious check. Makes the turn an obvious call hoping to get to a showdown against a bluff/value bet from lower pair. Or, the turn is an obvious call b/c if he checks the river you may be able to bluff out a hand like KQ.
River is an easy fold. BTW, betting the flop here is -cEV. The only card that could hurt you on the turn is a Q. |

Re: Bad line? JJ with overs
Thats what I was thinking at the time, that no turn card hurts me and I keep the pot small. I figured once he fired twice it was time to fold. I'd like to hear more thoughts on this though if someone would, someone with a great deal of experience hopefully.

Haha sorry I knew you were gonna say that, I value your opinion greatly and I think we have the right line. I didn't mean that you werent experienced, I meant that I was hoping we could get another reply from someone else thats experienced as well.

Re: Bad line? JJ with overs
make it 120 preflop. I dont like the call on turn though, you might be drawing dead. Save your chips and move on to next hand.
