Default FTOPS Satellite, Flopped top 2 early

Third hand of an $8 + 0.80 satellite into FTOPS Event 1. 37 player field & only one seat up for grabs. No reads whatsover on any of my opponents, but over the first two hands at least it looked like the table was there to play poker & not all in fests. I got the flop I wanted, but...?

On a board like this, you're mostly likely up against two overs, an overpair to the board, or trips. Of the 3 choices, only one has you crushed. since this is basically winner takes all, you have to be aggressive and accumulate. Top 2 on this board works for me. If its trips, so be it.

and since you do have top 2, it makes trips that much less likely. id go with it

So it's a unanimous all in call?

Well thank you muchly then.

(I did call, I did lose (to a rivered set), I wondered if this was one of those situations where you fold the possible best hand early to find a bigger edge later)

In these sats $EV = cEV so there is never a time to pass up a cEV edge due to $EV considerations.

As far as passing up small edges early the topic has been discussed to death (see the Anthology for example), but it is the general consensus that passing up any edge early is a mistake.

Oh, and I don't think this is just a small edge.

PS: Don't be results oriented.

Nah, nothing like that. Just a limit cash player trying to figure out this whole NL tourney thing.

Follow up question if anyone feels like adding on to this thread: Let's say you're UTG in this hand and you're holding AA (because he was). After this flop action (pot sized bet followed by call followed by all in followed by an all in call), is that a spot to fold (because he didn't)? Not because he wound up winning the hand (he didn't), it just seemed to me in retrospect that with that kind of action he could have gotten away from the hand...?
