Default derren brown, mind control, npl and beating the casino

hi, don't know if this is the right place for this post, hope so...
i have been watching a series of shows on tv by a british show man called derrin brown and some of his tricks and games have been mind blowing. the most recent was him teaching a pensioner to play poker for the 1st time and having her play in live sit and go a week later against seasoned pros that included some wsop bracelet winners. the result was amazing. he had her reading their body language perfectly, making some amazing calls and eventually coming second (thanks only to a 2outer suck out by her opponent when down to heads up). the best was seeing her call an all in river bet with K high, correctly reading a bluff.

another show had him playing casino games where he destroyed the black jack table counting cards. there are many more tricks that are just amazing, he is a genius who combines mind reading, npl, magic, suggestion, hypnosis and memory to pull off some amazing stunts.

some of my favs are when he memorises an entire book word for word in half an hour, another where he puts someone in a trance without them knowing and then transports them from london to morocco and has them wake up in a strange place with no way of knowing how he got there.

anyhow, there is hours and hours of the stuff to watch and as a poker player i would recomend watching it all. he will amaze. to check it all out go to MOD EDIT: GOOGLE FOR Derren Brown and navigate from there to the channel 4 shows. if you only watch a few then they must be the ones where he plays poker and trains the granny to play.

Counting cards at a high level is indeed quite tough, and the vast majority of people cannot do it. However, calling it amazing still seems a little much. I did it, and while it makes me feel good to say I did, amazing it was not.

Also, it's NLP, not NPL. For neuro-linguistic programming.

Anyway, with your three posts, this seems like a clear attempt to advertise, and I'd ask mods to lock.

he he he, you are right, nlp. as for advertise, the post would be incomplete without the link and pointless. i was genuinly amazed by his tricks and thought someone alse might find it interesting.....no, well fine. i'm fairly new to posting and didn't realise that mentioning specifics was a problem. i'll be more carefull in future....

Thanks Blarg, but I've done the usual checks I usually do from spammers, and I have enough doubts to leave this here, and let the Original Poster continue to post. I will be watching him though.

I have removed the original link in the post though, so there's no obvious gain for him if he is just that.

thanks carter, i'm a newbie here and joined to improve my poker and when i saw what this guy was doing on tv it really got me interested in the whole idea. it seems though that i'm a bit ignorant and that people know about nlp and the like already.

If you are really interested you might want to play with the search function a bit.

There has been some extensive discussion of NLP on this site over the years.

very little of what you wrote here is true. that episode was terrible in many ways and for the most part, not at all impressive.

fwiw i have always been a huge fan of derren but i think his latest stuff kinda sucks.
