Re: I have 2 overs and a flush draw on flop. Villain (slightly) overb
mob is a retard never listen to him. The raise is ok here, depending how much you wanna gamble if he plays back at you. you have to decide in advance whether you want to gamble your whole stack here or not. Decide in advance what youre going to do if he shoves you on the flop and, if you miss the turn. If he flatcalls and leads on a blank turn for you, then I would muck, but usually if he flatcalls youre going to get a free card, unless it drastically improves his hand, and sometimes he will still check to you in that situation. If he comes over the top on the flop, you are probably drawing real slim so Id muck there too

from my blog entry today, keeping in mind that this is a $10 and he has a big hand:
[ QUOTE ] Mediocre players will often just raise every draw, including hands like J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], on the flop, thinking "flush draw + overcards + fold equity". Big mistake. His bet told you that he isn't folding and probably has an overpair, so why are you counting any fold equity *or* overcards as outs? [/ QUOTE ] |

Adanthar,
What do you put villain on in my hand? In general I think flop raises when you have position on your opponent are very effective in getting folds against mediocre opponents (perhaps due to the popularity of probe/c-bets). |

"His bet told you that he isn't folding and probably has an overpair"
The other problem is that he's generally overbetting because he's scared of draws, making it hard to get paid when the turn is a heart. |

[/ QUOTE ] True, but there are also the players who make scared overbets and are then scared to fold the "best" hand and make laydowns even when one of the scare cards hits. This type of player is very common in low limit tournies. |
