Default New Poker Variants

why don't online sites experiment with novel hold 'em variants or completely new games? i can think of a few reasons (keeping their money-making tables well populated, minimizing the edge sharks have over fish, etc.) but given the (relatively) low cost of adding them to the client i don't see why they haven't at least tried something new (predictions are often wrong - let's see if something works!). big bet stud, deal the last two cards at the same time.. hold 'em with 3 blinds, 4 blinds, antes, straddles, etc.

something! anything! i'm fn bored! many variants would result in MORE action, which is what the recreational players crave.

This seems not to be true. When new games are offered (for instance horse and triple draw recently added to stars) they get a little action for a few weeks and then it dies. I too would love it if a new game took off. Especially if it was a good bit different from the poker that we're used to.

maybe they should try introducing games that aren't dull as [censored]. hold 'em variants with different blind structures seem ideal.

NL Hold 'Em w/ an ante would be phenomenal.

UB has done this.

RoyalHoldem which was popular for a little and now just draws a minor amount of attention....

Full Tilts Cap games as well, doesn't ever seem like there are a whole lot of people playing them

i second the "holdem w/ an ante" idea. anything to make the games more action oriented.

not to hijack the spirit of this thread, but sites banning HUD's would help a lot in this respect too.
