Default RIP David Halberstam

one of the great storytellers of the century died today in a car crash in SF
link to ESPN story

the first book I read of his was The Education of a Coach, a great look at Bill Belichick and his NE dynasty. some of his other classics are Summer of '49 and The Teammates: A Portrait of a Friendship.

One of my favorite authors ever, whether on 20th century politics or 20th century sport. Summer of '49, The Fifties, The Breaks of The Game, and others; everything I've ever read of his is a gem. He was in great health, as I understand it; probably would have lived another twenty years if not for the wreck. Truly one of this country's great men of letters. Very sorry to see him go.
